Sunni Cleric: Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Legacy of Unity Embraces Respect for All Faiths
“The Prophet of Islam was revered not only by Muslims but also by followers of other divine religions,” Damani said. “He was a messenger for all, and his method was grounded in rationality and moderation. As he said, ‘The best of affairs are those that are balanced.’ This was the path that drew hearts to Islam.”

Unity Through Consultation and Common Ground
Damani highlighted the multifaceted nature of unity in the Prophet’s life, particularly his emphasis on consultation. “The Prophet consulted with all segments of society—especially the youth, whose intellect and energy made them vital contributors to communal decisions,” he said. “When decisions are made collectively, regret rarely follows.”
He cited the Qur’anic verse: ‘Come to a common word between us and you’(Surah Al-Imran 3:64)
as a divine call to honor shared values and build bridges across differences. Respect for All Beliefs
Damani stressed that respect for the beliefs and sanctities of all religions—including Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, and others—is a fundamental Islamic principle. “The Prophet taught us not to insult others’ sacred beliefs, so they would not insult ours,” he said. “His mission was to spread Islam through dialogue and mutual respect, not confrontation.”
He referenced the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah as a model of the Prophet’s commitment to peace, even with those who had previously persecuted him. “He chose reconciliation over hostility, showing that respect and dignity are the foundation of Islamic outreach,” Damani noted. A Message for Humanity
In closing, Damani called for renewed efforts to embody the Prophet’s example in today’s world. “We must strengthen the culture of respect and understanding among all people,” he said. “The Prophet’s legacy teaches us that unity begins with honoring the humanity and beliefs of others.”
