Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the comments in an interview broadcasted live on Iran’s state television conducted on the eve of the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” Enemies use the ideological differences among the different ethnical groups in Iran to provoke them against each other.”
The cleric referred to unity as the prime objective of the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini (RA) and said,” The history of the past 300 years in the region reveals the efforts by the arrogant power (US) to first sow discord among countries in order to create regional divergence and second justify its presence under the pretext of turning this divergence to convergence.”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari added,” In contrast to the American unilateralism, that intends to dominate its liberal culture on all countries, we believe in diversity of cultures besides national unity”.
He stressed a national unity that empowers people to boost their determination in order to stand against global arrogance.
The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought referred to the divisive projects in the early days of the Islamic Revolution and warned against the enemies still active to divide Shia and Sunni and said,” Religious disagreements are the means that enemies have used during the past 300 years in order to divide countries.”
The senior cleric noted that the discourse of unity must be frequently repeated and its literature must be established between the Shia, Sunni and other ethnical groups.
He counted discourse-building, institution-building and also network-building as the first three phases necessary for promoting the discourse of unity in the country.
