His comments come as part of the global reactions to a recent plan by US President Donald Trump regarding withdrawal of the Palestinians from Gaza Strip and American control over the territory.
Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Kravik said in a press statement last night that Palestine is the homeland of the Palestinian people.
Kravik stressed that "the Palestinian people have a fundamental and independent right to self-determination and the establishment of their own state."
He pointed out that these right forms the basis of the 1947 UN Partition Plan, which later led to Norway and other countries recognizing Israel in 1949.
He explained that this position on the Palestinians' right to establish their state has been confirmed by various UN resolutions, as well as by the International Court of Justice.
The Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that "forcibly sending Palestinians from the occupied territories to other countries is contrary to international law."
