The president of MAPIM, Sheikh Azmi Abdul Hamid, in an open letter to Antonio Guterres, denounced the latest massacre of dozens of Palestinians, among them women and children, at an aid distribution center in southern Gaza, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He called the aid-distribution centers as “death traps” saying, “These massacres were not random acts of war, they were deliberate executions, conducted under the shadow of UN silence and global complicity.”
The prominent scholar addressed the UN Secretary General demanding,” Where is the invocation of your moral authority to call out the crimes of Israel and the role of the United States in enabling starvation and targeted killings under the false pretense of "humanitarian aid"?”
“Mr. Guterres, your position as Secretary-General carries the mandate to defend peace, protect the vulnerable, and uphold international law”, noted Azmi Abdul Hamid.
The president of MAPIM urged the UN to immediately condemn the so-called humanitarian aid operations being used as cover for mass killings in Gaza and mobilize the full weight of the UN system to force Israel to open land crossings and allow genuine, neutral humanitarian access.
The Malaysian Islamic council also called for an international tribunal to investigate the war crimes being committed daily, including enforced starvation and massacres at aid zones as well as an end to sanitizing of genocide with diplomatic language.
Azmi Abdul Hamid concluded that history will remember the silence of the United Nations not as diplomacy, but as complicity vowing that justice will one day prevail across the globe.
The letter by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations comes a day after 40 Palestinians were killed at a US-Israeli initiated aid distribution center set in southern Gaza.
