The statement, read during an extraordinary session of the Board of Governors, declared: "We condemn the aggression by the Israeli regime against Iran, including military attacks on nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, which constitute a blatant violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the Statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
The statement further asserted: "We strongly believe that these military attacks, in addition to threatening international peace and security, undermine confidence in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), demonstrate a clear disregard for the IAEA's safeguards system, and jeopardize the further development of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes."
Citing resolutions from the IAEA General Conference, the signatory nations reiterated: "Any armed attack and threat against nuclear facilities devoted to peaceful purposes shall be considered a violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Agency's Statute."
These countries reminded the Board that Iran is a non-nuclear weapon state party to the NPT, and the targeted facilities are under the comprehensive safeguards agreement of the IAEA. The statement also noted: "We recall Iran's long-standing and firm commitment to nuclear non-proliferation and are gravely concerned about the widespread consequences of such military attacks on safeguarded nuclear facilities."
The signatories urged the Zionist regime to immediately cease military aggressions against Iran and called on the Board of Governors, the Secretariat, and the Director-General of the IAEA to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
The statement concluded by emphasizing: "We call upon the Director-General to immediately report to the Board of Governors on all implications of Israel's attacks against IAEA-safeguarded nuclear sites and facilities in Iran, and to report any actions or threats of further aggression to the United Nations Security Council."
The joint statement was issued by the Russian Federation, China, Pakistan, Iraq, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cuba, Indonesia, Nicaragua, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Iran.
