Al-Sharif argued that the Israeli strikes on June 13, 2025, which targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities and assassinated key military commanders and scientists, were designed to collapse the Islamic Republic. However, Iran’s swift and forceful response—particularly its missile attacks on Israeli cities—shattered those expectations and demonstrated the country’s deterrent power.

He noted that Iran’s leadership, under Ayatollah Khamenei, quickly appointed replacements for the fallen commanders and launched retaliatory strikes the same day. The attacks caused widespread destruction in Israeli cities and forced civilians into shelters, with daily missile barrages continuing for days.

According to al-Sharif, the scale of destruction inflicted by Iran in just one week exceeded what Israel had caused in over 20 months of war in Gaza. He emphasized that Israel’s air defense systems failed to intercept many of the missiles, and the psychological impact on Israeli society was profound—forcing thousands to flee by sea to neighboring countries.

He concluded that the Iranian response disrupted the strategic calculations of the U.S. and its regional allies, many of whom began reaching out to Tehran to mediate and de-escalate the situation. The analyst portrayed Iran’s actions as a turning point in the regional balance of power.
