Araghchi: Shanghai Cooperation Organization Expanding Its Global Role

Upon arriving in China on Tuesday, Araghchi announced his participation in the 25th Meeting of SCO Foreign Ministers, scheduled to take place Wednesday in Tianjin under China’s chairmanship. He emphasized that the SCO is evolving from a regional alliance into a global platform, with a growing agenda that includes energy, trade, and international strategic discussions.

He noted that the summit will finalize the organization’s development strategy and address current global issues. On the sidelines of the meeting, Araghchi is expected to hold bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of China and Russia, as well as other SCO member states, focusing on regional developments and strengthening diplomatic ties.
Addressing recent aggression against Iran, Araghchi condemned the attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States, stating that over 120 countries and numerous international and regional organizations have expressed solidarity with Iran and denounced the assault on its nuclear facilities.
He praised the SCO’s statement of support and confirmed that the issue will be discussed in his speech during the summit’s general session.
Araghchi departed Tehran on Monday, leading a delegation to China for the summit. In addition to delivering a speech, he will engage in diplomatic consultations with several participating foreign ministers.
