According to Iraqi media, Larijani said at a press conference in Baghdad that these groups are well aware of their national interests and can make decisions independently.
He added: “Iran is not a country that trembles with every wind, as some might think.”
Regarding the security memorandum signed with Iraq, Larijani explained that its core aim is to prevent any individual or country from disrupting the security of either Iran or Iraq.
He described the agreement as a model for regional cooperation: “We believe this memorandum is a framework for security collaboration that can be extended to other countries. Our vision is for all regional nations to be secure and strong.”
He also praised the Iraqi people as courageous and independent, stating: “The people of Iraq are brave and do not need anyone dictating to them.”
The security memorandum was signed on Monday in Baghdad by Larijani and his Iraqi counterpart Qasim al-Araji. During his visit, Larijani met with Iraq’s Prime Minister, President, Parliament Speaker, National Security Advisor, and leaders of several political parties.
