Coalition of Islamic groups slams Israel’s barbaric massacre of Gaza journalists

Azmi Abdul Hamid, the president of MAPIM said in a recent statement said the Israeli targeting of voices that the world needed to hear on the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza with courage and truth.

It added,” Since the start of the war, nearly 270 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza. This is the largest massacre of journalists in modern history, committed with impunity, under the eyes of the so-called international community.”

The journalists were working from a tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital, a location long known to be a gathering point for media due to internet and electricity needs.

Israel openly admitted it had targeted Anas al-Sharif, baselessly accusing him of being part of Hamas — without presenting a shred of evidence.

“The killing of these journalists is part of Israel’s systematic campaign to silence reporting from Gaza”, he said affirmed.

MAPIM called for an immediate international investigation under the auspices of the United Nations into the targeted killing of journalists in Gaza and prosecution of Israeli Leaders responsible for war crimes, including the murder of media professionals, at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Malaysian coalition urged for protection for Journalists in War Zones, with legally binding consequences for states that target them.

It also demanded the lifting of the Gaza Siege and unrestricted access for humanitarian and media missions.

MAPIM said remaining silent in face of the mass killing of journalists, amounts to endorsement of the death of truth.

“MAPIM stands in unwavering solidarity with the families of the slain journalists and with all truth-tellers who risk their lives to expose injustice”, added the coalition of Islamic groups.
