He argued that the real issue for Western powers is not the existence or expansion of nuclear weapons, but rather who is allowed to pursue scientific advancement—even if it’s for peaceful nuclear purposes.
Highlighting what he called a “deafening silence” from Western governments, Araghchi pointed to the open development of the region’s only nuclear weapons stockpile, held by their “genocidal ally.”
He concluded: “The United States and the three European countries may deny it, but their silence has stripped them of any legitimacy to even raise the issue of non-proliferation.”
