Yemeni Official Condemns Trump’s Threats as Pro-Israeli and Harmful to Peace

Speaking in response to Trump’s proposed peace initiative, al-Houthi stated that “peace cannot be built on threats,” and criticized the U.S. president’s attempt to position himself as a mediator while openly siding with Israel. He argued that such actions undermine the credibility of any diplomatic effort.

Last week, President Trump unveiled a plan that reportedly calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the exchange of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners, and a phased Israeli withdrawal from the territory. The announcement coincided with unprecedented U.S. military, intelligence, and political support for Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 66,000 Palestinians, according to regional sources.
Al-Houthi emphasized that Washington’s escalation of arms support to what he termed “the criminal Zionist regime” further exposes the U.S. as a principal partner in the aggression against Gaza.
