Malaysian Islamic Council Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan, Warns Against Fragmenting Palestine

In an official statement shared with international media, the Council asserted that Trump’s initiative—presented under the guise of Gaza reconstruction—seeks to isolate the coastal enclave from the broader Palestinian struggle, reducing it to a humanitarian issue while ignoring the root causes: illegal occupation, ethnic cleansing, and denial of Palestinian sovereignty.

The statement emphasized that such proposals undermine the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and directly contradict international law, numerous UN resolutions, and the global consensus on a just resolution to the Palestinian struggle.
The Council outlined four key positions:
  1. Gaza is part of Palestine: Any attempt to treat Gaza as a separate entity is an assault on Palestinian unity.
Occupation is the core issue: No aid or reconstruction plan can deliver peace while Israel continues its illegal settlements and apartheid policies.
Trump’s proposal is an act of occupation, not peace: By shifting focus from Israeli crimes to humanitarian aid, the plan absolves the occupier and punishes the victim.
The international community must reject this deception: True peace requires ending the occupation, dismantling settlements, lifting the Gaza blockade, and restoring full Palestinian rights—including the right of return and recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
The Council called on governments, civil society, and the global Muslim community to reject Trump’s plan in its entirety, strengthen solidarity with Palestine, and demand accountability for Israeli war crimes.
“Peace cannot be built on injustice,” the statement concluded. “Justice for Palestine is the only foundation for lasting peace.”
