Nasser Abu Sharif, speaking with Al-Masirah network on the second anniversary of the operation, emphasized that his movement, along with other Palestinian groups, shares responsibility in negotiations with Hamas.
He criticized US President Donald Trump for giving priority to the fate of Israeli prisoners, while thousands of Palestinians—estimated at over 17,000—have been imprisoned for years.
Abu Sharif rejected any proposals for international oversight or the appointment of a high commissioner in Gaza, noting that such matters fall strictly within the jurisdiction of the Palestinians.
He stressed the importance of securing firm guarantees for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, noting that discussions on this issue should take place in Egypt.
Israel is experiencing growing global isolation because of its continuous war in Gaza, where over 67,000 Palestinians have died from attacks or Israeli-imposed starvation since the fighting started on October 7, 2023.
