Hamas rejects US plan, says it does not serve stability in Gaza

In a television interview, Qassem stated, “the amendments and axes of the US draft resolution at the Security Council do not serve the stability of the situation in Gaza, and we want a Security Council resolution that defends our people’s right to self-determination and prevents war on Gaza.”

He added, “we want a Security Council resolution that prevents the occupier from overrunning Gaza, the West Bank or Jerusalem.”
He emphasised that “the United States is trying to appease some parties with non-binding wording, and the alternative is to issue a resolution that strengthens a ceasefire and establishes an international peace-keeping force in Gaza.”
The UN Security Council (UNSC) is set to convene Monday, at 5 p.m. New York time to vote on a comprehensive US resolution that will determine Gaza’s post-war future.
According to Israeli political sources, Russia and China — both permanent members of the UN Security Council — are not expected to use their veto rights. They are instead likely to abstain or be absent during the vote.
Discussions on the draft text have continued in recent weeks between the United States, Israel, and Egypt, focusing on establishing a security and administrative framework for Gaza’s transitional period. 
The current proposal, which consists of ten articles, is based largely on the US strategic lines — and draws heavily on President Donald Trump’s twenty-point plan, which the United States insisted on during the drafting.
