Iranian cleric, Malaysian MP discuss religious convergence

Iran’s Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought met with Malaysia’s parliament speaker, as the two sides discussed necessity of convergence among different Islamic denominations.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari leading a delegation of Shia and Sunni scholars attended this meeting as part of a trip by Iranian representatives to Malaysia to attend the international conference on Islamic Unity and Palestine, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari elaborated on the history, mission and objectives of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought hailing the Malaysian institutions and organizations for attending the annual Islamic Unity Conference and Palestine summit.
 
Also, a number of Iranian Sunni scholars in this meeting, explained the freedom of religions for the Sunni community in Iran following the victory of Islamic revolution.
 
Dato Juhari bin Abdul, in this meeting, hailed the presence of Iranian Shia and Sunni scholars in Malaysia calling that a manifestation of coexistence of different Islamic denominations in Iran.
