A senior member of Hamas resistance movement called the participation of Israeli prime minister in the so-called ‘Peace Council’ as ‘the farce of the era’ citing the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for the Israeli official.
Hamdan slams Netanyahu’s participation in peace council as farce of era
In media statements, Hamdan said the Movement has not received any official draft or proposals from mediators concerning the disarmament of the resistance. He stressed that Hamas’s position remains unchanged and that no formal decision has been adopted to freeze its weapons, describing resistance as a legitimate right so long as the occupation persists.

Hamdan also affirmed that the Palestinian people reject any form of external guardianship, emphasizing that no international force can replace the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. He added that Hamas had communicated with the Indonesian government to clarify that the role of any potential international force should be limited to deployment along Gaza’s borders to separate the territory from Israeli forces and protect civilians.

He also said that any international stabilization force, if formed, should work to prevent Israeli attacks on Palestinians. Hamdan further accused Israel of continuing to obstruct the operation of the Rafah crossing, allowing only very limited numbers to pass and preventing the entry of the national committee tasked with administering the Strip.

He asserted that on October 7, 2023, Israel carried out a campaign of genocide in Gaza with US and European backing, involving killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, while disregarding international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt operations.

Reports indicate that Israeli aggression has resulted in more than 242,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them women and children, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands displaced, amid widespread destruction affecting infrastructure and most cities and areas across the Strip.
