The Malaysian government is set to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice against the Israeli regime for the abduction and torture of activists on the Gaza-bound Sumud Flotilla.

Malaysian media reported that Selangor State Chief, Minister Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari, said Kuala Lumpur was gathering information and completing documents to initiate legal proceedings.

More than 400 international activists on board the convoy, which was attempting to break the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid, were attacked and detained by Israeli forces in international waters last week.

“We will not sit still, we will not stop,” said Amiruddin Shari, welcoming the Sumud 2 Flotilla at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. “While the legal team is collecting all the documents related to the violation of international law, (the members of the caravan) have been kidnapped and tortured more than once.”

He said that Malaysia will take the case to the International Court of Justice; we will continue to exert diplomatic pressure.”

Amiruddin Shari said the legal action follows acts of violence, including kidnapping and torture of caravan activists, especially against Malaysian participants.

Amirudin Shari stressed that although the Sumud 2 has ended its mission, Malaysia and Selangor's commitment to the Palestinian cause will remain intact.

He added that the Sumud 3 mission will continue the struggle until the siege on Gaza is lifted.
The Israeli regime has previously been accused of genocide in Gaza by the International Criminal Court.

The ICJ has previously issued arrest warrants for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the regime's former Minister of War Yoav Gallant for committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
