Iran Army, IRGC launch retaliatory attack against US bases in region

Iran’s Army has launched wave of drones against US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain in response to the Tuesday overnight attacks against southern Iran.

The army's public relations office said the reciprocal attacks targeted U.S. bases and the radar installations of the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, which hosts the fleet's headquarters. The operation was conducted in response to "the mischief and harassment of the terrorist American army" against people in Iran's southern coastal regions.
 
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) also announced its fighters intercepted and destroyed by modern air defence units as it approached from the northern Persian Gulf with the intent of entering the combat zone.
 
The aircraft was brought down over the sky of Jam, a town in southern Bushehr province.
 
The MQ-9 Reaper is a long-endurance, hunter-killer drone used extensively by the U.S. military for both surveillance and precision strike missions.
 
The operations came after U.S. missile strikes destroyed two strategic water tanks in Sirik county, southern Iran, early Wednesday, cutting drinking water to several villages.

 Abdolhamid Hamzehpour, managing director of the Hormozgan province water and wastewater company, said the "terrorist missile attack by American forces" struck hours before dawn, targeting critical water distribution infrastructure. A 500-cubic-metre tank and a 2,000-cubic-metre tank, both playing a key role in supplying drinking water to the Bemani district and Kuhestak, were completely destroyed.
 
Water distribution to all villages of Bemani and the town of Kuhestak has been halted, Hamzehpour said.
