History Expert: The Persian Gulf is a symbol of Iran's historical authority and national identity
Ali Tahraband, a history expert, in an interview with Radio Farhang, emphasizing the strategic position of the Persian Gulf in Iran's history, said: "This important waterway has not only been a global trade route, but during the Safavid era, it became a symbol of the return of national authority and the consolidation of Iran's sovereignty."

According to the Taghrib News Agency, Ali Tahraband, a history expert, on the program "My Homeland, Iran" on Radio Farhang, referring to Iran's historical position in the region, stated: "Throughout history, Iran has not been merely a geographical area, but has played a role as a civilizational, political, and communicative sphere."
Stating that during the Safavid era, Iran's political structure gained more cohesion, he added: "Exactly, after nine centuries since the fall of the Sasanians, we form a national state in Iran, and for this reason, the Safavid period should be considered a turning point in the formation of the national state in Iran."
Tahraband described the Persian Gulf as one of the most important economic and strategic waterways in the world and said: "This region has historically been Iran's communication route with East Africa, China, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and ports such as Siraf, Kish, Qeshm, and Hormuz played important roles in shaping Iran's maritime trade network."
This history expert, referring to the Portuguese presence in the Persian Gulf in the early Safavid period, said: "Through the wisdom of Shah Abbas and the role of Imam Qoli Khan, the Portuguese were expelled from Hormuz and other islands, and Iran's authority in this region was revived."
Quoting Albuquerque, he recalled: "Whoever has authority over the Persian Gulf region has dominion over the whole world"—a statement that, according to him, shows the strategic importance of this region in the view of the global powers of that era.
Tahraband also, emphasizing Iran's geopolitical position, said: "Iran's geography has always been known as the communication highway between East and West, and today, one of the most optimal air and communication corridors in the region passes through Iran."
In another part of his remarks, emphasizing the national capacities for progress, he added: "Our Iran is like a phoenix that always rises from the ashes, and Iranian society, through empathy, synergy, and cooperation, can continue the path of reconstruction and development with strength."
This history expert also described education and health as the two fundamental pillars of progress and said: "The connection between university and industry must be strengthened, and alongside it, Iran's tourism and cultural capacities can also be considered as one of the most important sources of income for the country."
