UN warns of rising Palestinian displacement driven by settler violence and occupation aggression

According to OCHA, 67 people have been displaced since the beginning of the month due to demolitions, which resulted in the destruction of two dozen structures—including two facilities funded by international donors to support those in need.

The agency noted that “Israeli authorities demolish these structures for lacking building permits, which are nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain.”

OCHA reported that so far in 2026, settler attacks and demolitions—driven by the absence of Israeli-issued permits—have displaced more than 3,200 Palestinians. This represents an average of 17 people per day, doubling the daily displacement rate of the preceding three years.

Furthermore, OCHA health partners warned that “the delivery of medical services continues to be constrained by shortages or the high costs of fuel, generator oil, spare parts, and supplies.”

Reiterating the obligations of international humanitarian law, OCHA stated that “civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected.”

Regarding the occupied West Bank, OCHA reported that Israeli occupation incursions, expanding movement restrictions, demolitions, settlement expansion, and settler violence persist. “The result is that more Palestinians are being displaced, protection risks are increasing, and access to housing, livelihoods, and essential services is becoming ever more restricted,” the report noted.

Highlighting the dire situation in the genocide-stricken Gaza Strip, OCHA said: “Communicable diseases remain widespread. Last week, health partners provided more than 243,000 medical consultations across over 200 service points in Gaza.”
