Lebanese clerics honor 'Martyred' Ayatollah Khamenei, reaffirm support for resistance
Prominent Shia, Sunni, and Christian religious leaders in Lebanon gathered at a memorial ceremony to honor the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, praising his religious scholarship, leadership, and role in the regional resistance movement.

The event brought together clerics from different religious denominations with speakers highlighting what they described as the martyred leader's scholarly, spiritual, and revolutionary legacy, as well as the influence of his ideas on developments across the region and the Islamic world.
Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, deputy chairman of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Lebanon, said Iran had entered "a new phase of strength and authority" following Ayatollah Khamenei's martyrdom.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is no longer the same Iran as before," al-Khatib said, adding that the country was embarking on a new chapter in its confrontation with the West and the challenges arising from it.
He also denounced the United States over relying solely on power and coercion to impose its will on other nations.
Al-Khatib said the Iranian leader's intellectual, religious, and moral influence extended beyond Iran to Arab and Islamic nations, as well as "free people" around the world. While the Islamic Ummah had lost a great leader, he said, it had gained "a new future" whose impact would soon become evident.
He further praised Iran's stance against what he described as the world's leading hegemonic power and criticized regional actors whom he accused of compromising their countries, peoples, and principles.
Also addressing the gathering, Sheikh Zuhair Juaid, deputy chairman of the Assembly of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon, reiterated the group's opposition to the framework of negotiations between the Lebanese government and what he referred to as the Zionist regime.
Juaid said the United States could not be regarded as a mediator, describing Washington as "a full partner in the bloodshed of the peoples of the region."
He also voiced support for the continuation of the Islamabad negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, while stressing that Lebanon would not retreat from its sovereignty or relinquish "even an inch" of its territory.
Ibrahim Shahin, head of the Orthodox Spiritual Court of Tripoli, condemned the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei, describing it as a crime against human and religious values.
Concluding the ceremony, Seyyed Ali Hejazi, speaking on behalf of Lebanon's Islamic seminaries, outlined Ayatollah Khamenei's scholarly, moral, and revolutionary virtues, emphasizing his role in shaping developments across the region and the wider Islamic world.
The memorial ceremony concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to the path of resistance and paying tribute to the late Iranian leader's legacy.
