Organized by the "Society for the Defense of the Palestinian Nation," the Municipality of Tehran, and the "World Assembly for Islamic Awakening," the event featured remarks from Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Hassan Rahimian, the Secretary-General of the Society for the Defense of the Palestinian Nation.
He noted that Imam Khomeini's thoughts were based on the Quran, stating that one of his most important speeches was delivered on the 10th of Muharram in 1963 against Israel and the treachery of this regime.
He added that when Imam Khomeini was in Najaf, a number of Palestinian fighters wrote to him asking about jihad against the Israeli regime. In his response, he wrote that the existence of Israel is very dangerous for the Islamic community and that all Islamic countries must eradicate this nefarious regime from the earth.
Hojjatoleslam Rahimian also referred to the statements of the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque regarding jihad against Israel, highlighting that the formation of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the subsequent establishment of other resistance factions throughout history are among the most significant achievements of Imam Khomeini.
Tehran's mayor, Alireza Zakani, continued the ceremony by stating that the ideals of Imam Khomeini revive the true religion of Islam.
He emphasized that Imam Khomeini approached the Palestinian issue with a civilizational perspective, making the Palestinian people the focal point of unity for the Islamic Ummah.
He further stated that Palestine is a place that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, and in this context, Imam Khomeini positioned Palestine as the center of resistance.
The mayor of Tehran concluded by saying that Imam Khomeini's view of the Palestinian issue was one of unity between Shia and Sunni, and from his perspective, Palestine symbolizes Islamic unity.
