South African Lawyer: Israel’s Crimes in Palestine Cannot Be Concealed

"Speaking at the 8th International Conference on Solidarity with Palestinian Children and Youth in Tehran, Attorney Ziyaad Patel drew on South Africa’s legal experience in pursuing accountability for war crimes."
South African Lawyer: Israel’s Crimes in Palestine Cannot Be Concealed
“South Africa has played an active and recognized role in investigating cases related to the Zionist regime. We have interrogated individuals and companies involved with its military and pursued legal action.”

Patel described the scale of atrocities in Palestine as overwhelming: “We have witnessed a massive crime in Palestine, and it is our duty to defend against it. Palestinian leaders—and even some Arab and European figures—have affirmed that the Palestinian state has historical legitimacy. This is not a new claim.”

He stressed the legal foundations of resistance: “In international law, the right to resist is intertwined with the right to self-determination. Everything at our disposal must be used against colonialism and illegal occupation. We must not surrender to Western narratives.”

Patel honored the martyrs of resistance across the region: “The sacrifices made in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen must serve as lessons for the world. These martyrs are symbols of dignity and defiance.”

Reflecting on a recent museum visit, he added: “Last night, after visiting the Qasr Museum, we saw how people and fighters struggled for freedom. Today, the Israeli army tramples every value in Palestine. That is why we must continue the fight until liberation is achieved. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
