The leader of Catholic Church, Pope Francis passed away early Monday April 21, 2025. The Argentinian pontiff was the first non-European pope to lead the Catholic Church in more than a thousand years.

Participants raised Palestinian and Argentine flags alongside banners calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Israel’s siege, military aggression, starvation war and genocide.

Under the slogan "For a Christmas Without Genocide," the protest highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and criticized the Argentine government’s support for Israeli policies.

The local government of Santa Clara del Mar took the initiative in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Argentina. While the celebration included traditional Palestinian dancing, the dabke, live singers and people wearing traditional Palestinian dress.
